And Lunan Bay is a great place for a good long gallop. Balnbrechan owner Jules used to do all her gallop and interval training on the beach, which is a just a five-minute hack away.
Also Brechin Castle Equestrian Centre is a half-hour drive away. There you can make use of their Jumps X course and their BHS cross country course.

The bed and breakfast is just 10 minutes walk away from one of Scotland's best kept secrets ... the award-winning Lunan Bay.
You can enjoy a wonderful walk along the beach, then along the cliff tops to the small coastal village of Auchmithie.
There you can have a well-earned coffee and home made scone at the But 'n' Ben restaurant which was featured in the Sunday Times "Best Afternoon Tea Places" and is housed in a charming row of cottages .
During the breeding season, you can watch the puffins nesting on the cliffs at Auchmithie ... it is quite a spectacular sight.
There is also a lookout hut for birdwatchers which is filled with lots of useful information about the wildlife that can be seen.
In addition, dolphins are frequent visitors to the bay in the summer months.
